Dinna Fash Yersel Mug - Doric-Scots dialect / Scots slang Mug | Scottish Gifts

This mug has Dinna Fash Yersel" on the front and back, which translates from Doric-Scots as "Don’t go to any bother about it".
Would make a wonderful gift for any Scot, or perhaps as a gift upon returning from holiday there.

This is a funny, entertaining mug which is bound to give you a chuckle whenever you drink from it, especially in the company of Scots.

It measures about 9.5cm high and approximately 8cm in diameter. The handle is a really good size and comfortable even for me with my big shovel hands!

It comes packaged in a Mugsafe (Registered trademark) cardboard box which measures approximately 15cm x 11cm x 10cm.

By way of a bit of background into the quote on this gorgeous mug, Doric-Scots is a Scottish dialect spoken mainly in the North East of Scotland in cities such as Aberdeen. The term "Doric" was formerly used to refer to all dialects of Lowland Scots, but during the twentieth century it has become increasingly associated with Mid Northern Scots and is recently experiencing a resurgence.

Since the Pixar film “Brave” it has been officially recognised as the third Scottish language and Aberdeen City Council have committed to teaching the “mither tongue” to school children (according to one popular tabloid newspaper anyway – so it might be a load of mince)

Anyway that aside, we love Doric Scots and having spent a lot of time in Scotland think that it should be brought back into more popular usage.
This mug really is a brilliant way to help with that. If you’re not Scottish (or even if you are) then try reading it in your best Scots accent, (perhaps watch the film Brave first to get an idea).

Then you could practise saying it when drinking your tea from this quality mug in the company of your friends.

We at Mudchutney are huge folk music fans and so a perfect opportunity for us would be to invite people around for some lovely traditional Scots and Irish music (and we’d probably drink wine out of it rather than tea too – not actually tried that yet but will definitely give it a go)

Enough of our rambling though – it’s a gorgeous mug and whatever you want to drink out of it, we’re sure it’ll taste fabulous, and look even better!
